Introduction to the Chicago Manual of Style: A Three-hour Workshop
I no longer teach this workshop, for those who would like to standardize journals or books according to the bible of academic publishing, the Chicago Manual of Style. The workshop introduced participants to Chicago's standards regarding punctuation, capitalization, terms, numbers, quotations, foreign languages, abbreviations, and documentation. The differences between Chicago and other popular style manuals (like the Modern Language Association handbook or the American Psychological Association handbook) were also covered. A consistent style is an important part of a journal's reputation since regular patterns improve readability and signal meticulous scholarship. I no longer copyedit myself nor do I answer email queries about copyediting.
